“In presenting his school’s very successful project on gratitude, our faculty was filled with tons of laughter, smiles, and total engagement! Even in the cold of winter and holiday stress, when our teachers would rather do anything than sit through faculty meetings, Steve had fifty teachers and staff hanging on his every word and joke. He brought warmth, camaraderie, and knowledge.
Steve is a gifted speaker, and is often selected in our independent school association to represent our collective group of headmasters on the public stage. At MSE, he became our most requested and most affectionately talked about guest. In fact, the morning after he spoke, one of my teachers lamented that she wished she lived in Boulder because she was so sure Steve would be so much fun as a boss. Steve gave my teachers a true reminder of why they became teachers in the first place!”
“In my four years at SMA, that was by FAR the best Faculty Retreat Day I’ve been a part of. It was engaging, fun, and influential, and I thank you for making our day so full of joy. I was so thrilled to learn that gratitude and taking time to reflect was the theme of your workshop. I was a writing major in college and writing is my PASSION, but as I’m sure you know as an educator yourself, taking the time to do what you WANT to do is very different from doing what you NEED to do. Your workshop got me excited to start writing again, and I’m vowing to make it a priority! Thank you so much for a great day.”
“I have attended nearly 100 speaking engagements over two decades in education, and I must say that Steve is definitely on my top 3 list of presenters. He is engaging, inspiring, and extremely knowledgeable. He is able to capture the attention of an audience in the most creative ways! I always look forward to his speaking engagements!”
“Very hands-on and engaging! Steve is a great deal of fun and also someone who has endless amounts of wisdom and experience to share.”
“Steve is a powerful personality and very eloquent with his words on everything. He let us speak and interpret the materials – an awesome vessel to reminisce on our own experience as teachers. Great balance!”
“I really enjoyed your workshop. It was a great balance of relaxation with reflection and it was honestly very authentic. You talked about how we have these certain “buzz words” in education – I think mindfulness is a big one right now as you mentioned. I know the jargon is important and can be very effective, but sometimes it feels like an administrator goes to a conference or reads a book and then tries to make everyone do or say…this new trend. It does not feel real. When a person can effectively communicate something to his or her community and make it REAL, I believe this is a gift. Your talk was not at all corny or fake. It was real. You were so funny too!!! It was a good way to spend our inservice, and I really mean that.”
“Fantastic session! It is a continual effort to remind our very lucky students to be thankful for the amazing opportunities they have. This presentation sparked so many great ideas to take back to our school. Thank you for sharing!”
